9 viii.  Mathias "Matt" Walter was born in Jan 1873 in Pennsylvania.  He was Baptized in 1873 at St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.¹  

In the 1880 census, Mathias was born in Pennsylvania and 7 years old, living with his parents and 7 siblings in Lehman, Luzerne, Pennsylvania.

In the 1900 census, Mathis was 27 years old, born Jan 1873 in Pennsylvania.  He was single, living with his parents, 5 siblings, and a niece, Marmie Walter (5), at 40 Lehigh Street, Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne, Pennsylvania.  He was working as a teamster.

In the 1910 census, Matt was 37 years old.  He was living with his parents, 3 brothers and a niece at 40 Lehigh Street, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He was working as a "Wire Drawer" at Hazard Rope.

He was alive, living in Wilkes-Barre,  in 1910 when his father died.
