38 ii.  Monsignor Louis Frank Walter was born on 15 Jan 1902 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.  He was Baptized on 2 Feb 1902 at St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.1  His godparents were:  Louis Schappert and Francesca (Frances) Walter.1

In the 1910 census, Louis was 8 years old.  He lived with his parents and 5 siblings at 265 South State Street, Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne, Pennsylvania.  He was attending school.

In the 1920 census, Louis F. Walter was 17 years old. He was attending the Pontifical College Josephinum, 821 East Main Street, Columbus, Franklin, Ohio. (census taken 5 Jan 1920)

Also in the 1920 census, Louis was 18 years old.  The family was renting a house at 190 Park Ave, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.  Living at home were his parents, 9 siblings and grandmother, Elizabeth Schappert, 75 years old.  Louis was attending school. (census taken 14 Jan 1920)

He was ordained a Catholic priest on 2 Jun 1928 in St. Michael's Church, Kelly's Island (by Toledo), Ohio. 

In the 1930 census, Louis was 28 years old.  He was a priest at a Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky, Erie, Ohio.  He was living with 2 other priests and a servant.

He served for eight years as assistant pastor at St. Mary's Church in Sandusky, Ohio; six years as pastor of St. Margaret's Church, Kelly Island, and in 1942 he was pastor at St. Caspar Church, Wauseon, Ohio.  He was then pastor at St. Wendelin Church from 22 April 1959 until his death.  On 16 March 1964, he was elevated to the rank of Papal Chamberlain with the title of Very Reverend Monsignor. 

He died on 26 Apr 1965 in Fostoria, Ohio.  He was buried in St. Wendelin's Cemetery, Fostoria, Ohio.
