13 xii.  Frances Margaret Walter was born on 29 Aug 1883 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.   She was Baptized in 1883 at St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.1 

In the 1900 census, Frances was 16 years old, born Aug 1883 in Pennsylvania.  She was single, living with her parents, 5 siblings, and a niece, Marmie Walter (5), at 40 Lehigh Street, Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne, Pennsylvania.  She was working as a servant.

In 1910, she resided in Yonkers, New York, where she worked in a sewing factory. 

Frances never married.

Frances Margaret Walter died on 21 May 1981 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

Obituary:  

Miss Frances M. Walter, 97, of 125 South Pioneer Ave., Trucksville, died Thursday (21 May 1981) night at Valley Crest Medical Center following an illness.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, August 29, 1883, she was the daughter of Gottfried and Magdaline Holman Walter.  She resided in the Wyoming Valley all her life and was a member of St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society.  She was self employed as a seamstress.  

Surviving are several nieces including Mrs. Joseph Purcell, with whom she had resided.

Funeral will be from the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, 140 North Main St., Shavertown, Monday at 8:45 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church at 9:15.  Interment in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Shavertown (on May 25, 1981).

Comment on obituary:  Frances lived for many years in Yonkers, NY.  Her father's and siblings obituaries placed her in New York.   Her Social Security number was issued in New York.
