Phyllis Marie Ashberger

Phyllis Marie Ashberger was born 31 Aug 1913 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. 

In the 1920 census, Phyllis was 6 years old, born in Pennsylvania.  She was attending school.  She lived with her parents and brother at 40 1/2 Lehigh Street, Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne, Pennsylvania.

Phyllis attended St. Nicholas School with Frederick C. Walter, Sr. (1913-1996).

In the 1930 census, Phyllis was 16 years old.  She was living with her parents and brother at 40 1/2 Lehigh Street, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.  She was attending school.

She died 2 May 1998 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

   Phyllis Ney, of Riverview Ridge and formerly of Bradford Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Saturday (2 May 1998) at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
   Born in Wilkes-Barre, Aug 31, 1913, she was the daughter of the late John and Magdalena Walter Ashberger.
   She graduated from St. Ann's Academy, Wilkes-Barre.
   She was employed for several years by the Martin Popky Insurance Agency as a secretary until her retirement in 1978.  She was a member of St. Nicholas Church and its senior Citizens Club.
   She was preceded in death by her first husband, Francis Sauers; second husband, Byron Bonham; third husband, John Ney; son, Joseph Sauers; daughter, Phyllis Nowak.
Surviving are her son, Raymond Sauers, Clifton, NJ; brother, Donald Ashberger, Arizona; stepsons Byron and Vaughn Bonham; Fred Ney, Wilkes-Barre; stepdaughter, Betty Hamrick, Wilkes-Barre; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
   Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Walter W. Lisman and Son Funeral Home, 233 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. in St. Nicholas Church.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Shavertown. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
