Her mother died in March 1895 from septicemia
(apparently a post-partum infection). Her father died in 1897 from
comsumption (tuberculosis).
In the 1900 census, "Marmie" was 5 years old, born in March
1895 in Pennsylvania. She was living with her grandparents at 40
Lehigh Street, Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne, Pennsylvania.
In the 1910 census, Mary was 15 years old. She was living with her
grandparents and 3 uncles at 40 Lehigh Street, Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne,
Pennsylvania. She was working as a clerk in a Dry Goods store.
In the 1920 census, Mary T. Walter was living with her aunt, Mary Cronauer,
at 47 Moyallen Street, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. She was working as
a saleslady in a department store.
In the 1930 census, Mary was 35 years old, married 6 years, and living with
her husband, 3 sons and her aunt, Mary Cronauer, at 47 Moyallen Street,
Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne, Pennsylvania. She was not working.
She died on 7 Jul 1988.

Mrs. Mary T. Purcell, 93, formerly of 125 S. Pioneer Ave., Trucksville,
died Thursday (7 Jul 1988) in Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas, following a two-year illness.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, March 17, 1895, daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Walter, she resided her entire life in the Wyoming
Valley, spending the last 50 years in the Back Mountain. Mrs. Purcell was
a member of St. Therese's Church, Shavertown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph
L., who served for more than 40 years as promotion manager for the former Boston
Store, on June 10, 1986.
Surviving are sons William F., Harveys Lake,
Joseph W., Dallas, Attorney James L., Garden City, Long Island, NY; daughter
Mrs. Robert (Mary T.) Siani, Warren, NJ; 24 grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 from the Harold
C. Snowdon Funeral Home, 140 N. Main St., Shavertown, with Mass of Christian
Burial at 10 in St. Therese's Church. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery,
Hanover Township.
