In the 1910 census, "Mathilda" was 35 years old.
Both her parents were born in Germany. She was married 12 years with 6
children, all living at home. The family lived at 265 South State
Street, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
In the 1920 census, "Matilda" was 44 years old.
Her father was born in Germany and her mother was born in Ohio. The family
was renting a house at 190 Park Ave, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
Living at home were her husband, 10 children and her mother, Elizabeth Schappert, 75 years old.
Mathilda Anna Schappert died on 12 Aug 1929 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. She died in a
"coma" as listed on her death certificate. She was buried in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Shavertown,
Pennsylvania.

Funeral Notice:
Funeral mass celebrated by son Rev.
Louis Walter, assisted by Rev. Carl Schappert of Texas, a brother, deacon and
Rev. George Hanks (sp.) of Washington, D.C. was sub-deacon.
Also in
sanctuary were Rev. Conrad Hassues (sp.) of Bethlehem, PA, and Rev. Charles J.
Goeckel.
Pallbearers were Joseph Purcell, Michael Schappert, Fred Fisher, John Markowsky,
James Brady and Martin Haefele (sp.). |
