Buckingham Palace

This is the official London residence of the Queen.  The State Rooms at Buckingham Palace are used exclusively by the Queen and the Royal Family to receive and entertain quests on State, Ceremonial and Official occasions.  These magnificent rooms which contain some of the finest works of art in the world, are only open to visitors for a limited period each year (usually in the summer when the Queen is elsewhere).  The palace was not open to the public when we were there, especially since the Queen Mother died the day after our arrival in London.  The palace was due to be open during the Queen's Jubilee celebrations in June 2002.
